GENERAL:

SPECTRABOND is a gloss vinyl screen ink formulated for easy printing onto a wide range of PVC and other plastic substrates to give a consistent high level of gloss and adhesion with excellent durability.

USES:

SPECTRABOND is suitable for a wide range of applications including point of sale displays, self-adhesive vinyl stickers, illuminated signs, catalogues and book covers, wallets and credit cards. It exhibits good chemical resistance and can therefore be used for petrol, grease as well as acid resistant applications. However, it is advisable to pre-test all materials prior to a production run.

Thinning:

SPECTRABOND should be thinned about 25% with SBT Thinner or SBR Retarder. Extra Strong Thinner, GT25, and Extra Strong Retarder, GT26, can be used for difficult substrates such as rigid vinyl or nylon woven PVC. Universal Thinner, UT20, and Universal Retarder, UT21, can also be used where milder solvents are desired for solvent-sensitive substrates. Universal Economy Thinner, UT22, and Universal Economy Retarder, UT23, are used where economy is desired especially where large solids are printed. But it must be emphasized that all UT reducers are diluents and not true solvents for SPECTRABOND inks and properties such as gloss, adhesion and drying can be affected by these solvents.

Mesh:

All types are suitable.

Stencils:

All types of photostencils and hand cut stencils are suitable except the solvent adhering grades.

Squeegees:

White rubber or polyurethane. Black rubber should be avoided as it may bleed with light colours.

Coverage:

40 - 60 m2 through 120T mesh when thinned 25%.

Drying:

SPECTRABOND will rack dry in 15 - 30 minutes depending on ambient temperatures, ventilation, type of reducer and type of substrate. The use of a jet drier is recommended and will considerably reduce drying times. Although extra time should be allowed for overlapped colours, prints can be stacked without the danger of blocking even on double sided work. However, it is advisable to pre-test all materials prior to a production run or our laboratories will be pleased to test problematic materials.

Screenwash:

Universal Screenwash UT5O.

Colour Range:

The full colour range as per Colour Chart is available. In addition, matchings of 1 x 1 kg and over are available but please state mesh and submit substrate when ordering. The lightfastness of the colours is excellent, all colours having a minimum of 6 on the Blue Wool Scale

GENERAL:

MULTIPLAST is a multipurpose gloss screen ink formulated for printing on high speed machines as well as semi-automatics and hand benches.

USES:

MULTIPLAST has excellent adhesion on a wide variety of substrates such as corona discharge treated Corriboard (Correx) Acrylics (Perspex) ABS, Styrene, Polycarbonates (Lexan), coated metals, self-adhesive vinyl, coated masonite as well as paper and board. However, it is advisable to pre-test all materials prior to a production run. MULTIPLAST inks can easily be washed off substrates without leaving ghost images by using mild solvents such as alcohols. This facilitates the recovery and re-use of most of the materials mentioned above.

Thinning:

MULTIPLAST should be thinned 20 - 40% with MT2O Standard Thinner or MT21 Retarder. Where the recovery of the substrate is essential or where the material is sensitive to strong solvents (e.g. Styrene, Lexan, ABS) LT2O Thinner or LT21 Retarder should be used; On the other hand difficult materials such as vinyl, polyesters and certain acrylics may require stronger solvents such as GT25 Extra Strong Thinner or GT26 Extra Strong Retarder.

Mesh:

All types are suitable.

Stencils:

All types of photostencils and hand cut stencils are suitable except solvent adhering grades. Direct emulsions such as HYDRASOL UV (HEM UV) or HYDRASOL FU (HEM FU).

Squeegees:

White Rubber or polyurethane. Black rubber should be avoided as it may bleed with light colours.

Coverage:

40 - 60 m2 through 120T mesh when thinned 25%.

Drying:

MULTIPLAST will rack dry in 10 - 20 minutes depending on ambient temperatures and ventilation. Drying times can be considerably reduced using a multistage jet air drier. Although extra time should be allowed for overlapped colours prints can be stacked from the drier without any danger of blocking even on double sided work.

NYLOBOND inks are a single pack system for direct screen printing, resulting in opaque prints with excellent wash ability, flexibility and adhesion on a wide range of fabric.

USES:

NYLOBOND is suitable for printing on nylon, including water-proofed garments and other dark coloured fabrics.

Thinning:

NYLOBOND inks are supplied at a suitable printing consistency for most printing applications, but if necessary may be thinned with NBT Nylobond Thinner or NBR Nylobond Retarder.

Mesh:

Most screen fabrics are suitable but coarse meshes are preferable. 30 - 90 mesh monofilament screens are recommended.

Stencils:

All types of photostencils and hand cut stencils are suitable except solvent adhering grades.

Squeegees:

White rubber or polyurethane, black rubber should be avoided as it may bleed with light colours.

Coverage:

± 20 m2 per kg depending on thinning and mesh used.

Drying:

NYLOBOND inks will dry in about 1 hour depending ambient conditions. These inks may also be forced dried by stoving at a minimum temperature of 100°C for 3 minutes. Higher temperatures can be used for shorter times.

Screenwash:

Universal Screenwash UT5O.

GENERAL:

These are a range of two-pack epoxy inks possessing excellent adhesion and chemical resistance. They set to a hard but flexible heat resistant film with a high gloss finish. They can be air dried or stoved.

USES:

Treated polyethylene and polypropylene, polyester, ceramics, melamine, fibreglass metals, glass and phenolics.

Thinning:

KEEPOX inks can be thinned approximately 20% with Universal Mild Thinner LT20, or Universal Mild Retarder, LT21.

Mixing

KEEPOX inks are supplied in two parts which should be mixed thoroughly in the following instruction ratios: 3 parts ink, 1 part catalyst (KE102). This mixture gives a pot life of ±3 hours depending on weather conditions. Thus only the correct amount of ink should be mixed for this period. Also inks should be washed from the screen immediately after printing as the inks dry to a solvent resistant state.

Mesh:

Preferably synthetic, either polyester or nylon.

Stencils:

All types of photostencils and hand cut stencils are suitable except solvent adhering grades.

Squeegees:

White rubber or polyurethane.

Coverage:

±30 - 40m2 per kilogram when thinned 20%.

Air Drying:

Touch dry within 2 hours at room temperature. Maximum chemical resistance and hardness is not achieved until 7 days after printing.

Stoving

The curing of prints is greatly accelerated by heat. Typical stoving schedules are as follows:

5 - 7min touch dry @80ºC, 30min to cure

2 - 5min touch dry @120ºC, 10min to cure

1 - 2min touch dry @150ºC, 7min to cure

Screenwash:

Universal Screenwash UT5O.

GENERAL:

FLEXOPAQUE inks are a range of the most elastic and opaque colours for direct and heat transfer printing onto dark coloured garments.

USES:

FLEXOPAQUE inks are suitable for printing onto a wide range of fabrics including cotton/synthetic blends. However always pre-test for adhesion, opacity, cracking, wash ability and other specific requirements.

Thinning:

Because the inks never dry unless properly cured, FLEXOPAQUE colours have excellent screen stability. They are supplied press ready and normally do not require thinning. Where the inks need to be thinned small amounts of FLEXOPAQUE THINNER can be used.

Mesh:

Most fabrics are suitable but coarse meshes are preferable. 20-49T monofilament screens are recommended.

Stencils:

Solvent resistant, direct emulsions such as HYDRASOL UV (HEM UV) and FG (HEM FG).

Curing:

FLEXOPAQUE inks will cure at the instant when the entire ink film reaches 150-165°C depending upon ink deposit. Curing units may have to be set at very much higher temperatures to reach the required curing time on the inks and garments. Depending upon the type of curing unit it may take as long as three minutes to reach the required temperature. When more than one colour has to be printed each colour may be flash cured at ±1200C for 30 seconds. All the colours can then be cured as recommended above. A definite test to check whether or not the print has cured and will withstand repeated washing is to stretch and retract the printed garment without showing bad crack marks. If after curing and cooling the print feels dry and firm when twisting the thumb on it, correct cure should have been achieved.

Washability:

Excellent. Dry cleaning is not recommended. Imprinted parts of the garment should not be ironed.

COLORSHEEN is an ultra-thin film screen ink suitable for high speed or hand-printing onto good quality nonabsorbent stocks giving a high level of sheen and excellent scuff resistance. On absorbent stocks COLORSHEEN produces an eggshell sheen. It is formulated to dry fast and give good screen stability for fine line and half tone printing with excellent inter-film adhesion on multi-colour prints.

USES:

COLORSHEEN is suitable for all types of poster, display or point of sale work and will cut and crease with good results. All types of paper, board, coated materials, corrugated board, etc. may be used.

Thinning:

20 - 40% with CST Thinner or CSR Retarder according to the definition required and the absorbency of the stock. UT21 can also be used especially for fine line or half tone printing.

Mesh:

Preferably synthetic, either polyester or nylon.

Stencils:

All types of photo stencils and hand cut stencils are suitable except the solvent adhering grades

Squeegees:

White rubber or polyurethane. Black rubber should be avoided as it may bleed with light colours.

Coverage:

40 - 60 m2 through 1 20T when thinned 20%.

Drying:

COLORSHEEN will rack dry in 10 - 20 minutes depending on ambient temperatures, ventilation and absorbency of the stock. Multistage jet driers will considerably reduce drying times.

Screenwash:
